In a heartening display of community support and cultural celebration, the Sofia Greek School in Arnhem/ Nijmegen recently organized a remarkable event to strengthen ties within the Greek community. As an active participant and speaker at this event, I had the privilege of discussing the challenges and importance of raising multilingual children while fostering cultural adaptation. The evening was filled with excitement as the school unveiled its program for the upcoming year, introduced new teachers, and promised a series of events dedicated to supporting Greek culture and community. The joyous gathering culminated in lively Greek music by Provata Kommatia, dancing, and an array of delectable homemade Greek dishes.

In the spirit of supporting the Greek community, the event kicked off with a thoughtful discussion about multilingual children and the hurdles they face due to language barriers. Their presence promises exciting and engaging lessons that will make learning Greek a delightful journey for learners of all ages.

Additionally, the school administration made a heartfelt promise to organize more community-focused events throughout the year. These events aim to promote Greek culture, create stronger bonds within the community, and foster a sense of unity and belonging.
